Contemporary art music can be exciting, beautiful and exhilarating on many levels, but going to the typical concert is essentially a passive experience.  Moving around is socially forbidden, dancing is unheard of and even clapping at the wrong moment is an embarrassing faux pas that exposes one’s ignorance.  I want to find ways that make the concert experience less passive and more engaging.  More fun.  But how to do that while maintaining the integrity of the art? 

 

I believe humor, audience interaction, drama, surprise and a sense of wonder can all be integrated into the concert experience along with such things as dance, narrative, film or whatever meets one’s fancy.  I believe in the possibilities of modern music and the evolution of art.
